Bishop Gerald J. Kaufman
Founder, Love Gospel Assembly
AUGUST 29, 1935 – APRIL 25, 1997
In 1976, LGA later obtained space within Beck Memorial, a church located on 180th Street in the Bronx. As a result of intense community outreach and tireless fundraising efforts, Love Gospel purchased their own building in 1979 at their current location of 2323 Grand Concourse. Within five years, in 1984, the congregation paid their mortgage in full.
It was with great sadness and dismay that Love Gospel Assembly received the news of Bishop Kaufman's passing in April of 1997. Though we mourned the loss of our Founder and great man of God, the church has persevered and continued to move forward with the vision and mission given by the Lord to Bishop Kaufman. "The Spirit of the
Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free. Luke 4:18" Shortly after Bishop Kaufman's passing, Bishop Ronald L. Baily was installed as Senior Pastor until the Fall of 2020 where he stepped down and installed Reverend Jeffrey Williams , as the new Senior Pastor of Love Gospel Assembly. Through the years we've experienced glorious times and times of hardship and suffering. Through it all we have persevered and to this present day are committed to fulfilling the mandate of our church and ministry, because "The Lords Voice Crieth for the City, Micah 6:9"
